Our history in the local community
Originally opened in 1944, Independent Floor Covering was purchased by our current owners in 1988. Co-owner Tom Thiele has been in the flooring industry since 1976, and his wife and co-owner Wing Thiele is a Certified Interior Decorator. She’s also a prominent member of the local community, serving as a Board Member for the Fort Gratiot Business Association and a Board Member of the Friends of the Fort Gratiot Dog Park. In the past, she was a Board Member of the Rotary Club and sat on the St. Clair County Community College Business Curriculum Advisory Board.
